Cooper Heating and Cooling- Heat Load Calculations

"One size fits all" and "bigger is always Better" are two sayings you will never hear from Cooper Heating and Cooling, Your Green Team. Many contractors choose the size of your heating and cooling equipment based on the square footage of your home, BIG MISTAKE!

Every major manufacturer recommends that you have a qualified contractor perform a Manual J Heat Load Calculation to determine the correct size furnace and/or air conditioner for your home.

What is a Manual J Heat Load Calculation? Simply put, it is a calculation that determines how much heat your home gains during the summer (heat gain) and how much heat your home loses during the winter (heat loss). Cooper Heating and Cooling determines this by measuring insulation values of floors, walls and windows. We look at orientation of the house, duct design and the customers heating and cooling expectations. Then through the use of an approved Heat Load Calculation software program, we determine the correct size equipment for your home.

Remeber the three little pigs? One house made of straw, one of sticks and one of brick. Now imagine they are all the same square footage. Do they all heat and cool the same? Absolutely not. Different building materials and insulation values determine how they heat and cool.
